DaYan GuHong Pro 3x3 (Magnetic, Core Magnets) - 55mm

This cube is a game changer. That is the main thing I have to say about this cube. And the reason why it’s a game changer is because when you pay $17 for a cube that has CORE MAGNETS, you know something is up. And it feels great, whether you put lube in it or not, mainly because it’s a Dayan cube with the signature soft Dayan plastic. I love how the adjustment system is so easy to use since you can do it with your bare hand rather than using a complex tool like GAN cubes. The one thing that I despise of this cube is that it has glossy plastic rather than UV coating. If you don’t know what the difference is between them, is that glossy plastic scratches SUUUUPER easily, but UV coating has the same kind of shine (maybe even shiner) and doesn’t scratch at all. But other than that, the cube is perfect. I have both the Rs3m V5 and this cube and still don’t know which one I like better. So if you want a good cube for a insanely good price, you should either get this or the Rs3m V5

This cube is really good. I used to have a Gan 12 Maglev but it got old and I didn't want to spend tons of money so I got this. Highly recommend if you don't want to spend tons of money.

It's a great beginner cube for the price.

I am going to give a TLDR because this review is going to go fairly in depth on this cube. The Dayan Guhong Pro is the best value 3x3 on the market currently, and is a perfect choice for anybody from a complete beginner to advanced cubers alike.

Lets get into this review. I own 2 other flagship 3x3s, both of which cost 40 dollars apiece. I own the Tornado V3, and the Moyu Weilong WRM 10, both Maglev. While I do love both of these puzzles they come with some real issues in finding the "perfect setting" and I often find myself struggling to find a profile that fits my turning style. This is where the GuHong Pro diverts from the competition MAJORLY. This cube features a hyper simplified 5 gear compression adjustment system, and eliminates travel and magnet adjustment. This tends to scare a lot of people away from this puzzle under the impression you are getting less. However I will make the genuine argument that you are actually getting a more consistent and low fuss adjustment system with 5 genuinely usable and good compression settings that resist corner twists at its lowest and still corner cuts almost perfectly on it's highest.

I would describe the turning feel as light, papery, and very similar to the RS3M 2020/21 or a hyper refined YLM. The internal profile is fairly rigid and smooth and the piece design is incredibly simple, featuring a single track design with a basic yet effective anti pop mechanism. This leads to a feeling that I would describe as very light, papery, and versatile, and is a nice breath of fresh air in a world of flagship 3x3 with complex internal piece designs and anti pop tracks.

I do have one complaint that is more of a nitpick than anything but should be addressed. Disassembling this puzzle is NOT the same is disassembling a normal 3x3. The dual adjustment system on the core is held in place by two prongs on the core held together with the tension of the edge pieces. What happens as a result is center caps tend to eject themselves off of the puzzle when not held on by an edge. And considering this puzzle comes COVERED in factory lubricant that is something I have to bring up because disassembly and cleaning is a MUST to get the most out of this cube and properly set it up. However this core design is actually fairly smart because it allows you to fully disassemble the entire puzzle, down to the bare core and components with zero tools. Jaden has a guide on the Speedcubeshop Help channel which covers how to assemble the core properly, so if you run into into any issues that video should be able to walk you through it

The last thing I have to mention, is the price. At 20 dollars for the Maglev and 16 for the Spring version, and with frequent sales taking this puzzle as low as 10 to 13 Dollars the value proposition here is absolutely wild. This puzzle stands shoulder to shoulder with cubes that cost over twice the price with zero compromise to performance. You could spend 60 to 80 on a GAN Cube, 40 on an XMan or a Moyu, or spend 20 on a GuHong Pro and put the rest of that money towards other supplies and events.

Overall the Dayan GuHong Pro is what I would consider to be the best value 3x3 on the market currently at any level. The cube caters to a wide variety of turning styles, and takes basically no effort to set up. No matter if you are buying your First puzzle, Buying a cube for a friend or family member to introduce them to the hobby, or are a sub 10 speedcuber looking for a new 3x3 the GuHong Pro is a perfect choice
